Wanan No. 46 Drill: Mayor Inspects Evacuation, First Response Exercises
The mayor pointed out that the duration of this year’s drill has been extended from 30 minutes to 1 hour. The exercise is also conducted across two stages, spotlighting evacuation and first responses. In line with the guidelines announced by the central government, vehicles are required to come to a halt and all personnel evacuated. The scope of this year’s drill covers all 456 boroughs across Taipei’s 12 administrative districts, as well as public agencies, markets, department stores, and MRT Stations. As for elementary and middle schools in Taipei, drills have already been executed prior to summer break. According to Chiang, the first response exercise took place at Nangang Train Station. The scenario involves a missile strike hitting the train station, and emergency response and rescue operations were conducted accordingly. The Nangang District Office was the site for the simulation on establishing an evacuee service center and medical care station. At the conclusion of his speech, the mayor reminded the audience that the city government’s view on national security is adopting the stance of “expecting the worst from your enemies and prepare under the strictest standards.” For the Wanan No. 46 Drill, city hall has already implemented three rehearsal sessions. He also praised all the staff for their hard work, helping to make this year’s drill a success.
The 2023 Wanan No. 46 Drill took place in northern Taiwan starting 1:30 PM on July 24. During his speech at the start of the drill, the mayor expressed his gratitude to city agencies and borough offices for supporting the exercise with manpower.
