Mayor Attends 2023 Taoyuan Minnan Festival Roadside Banquet Galore
During his address, Chiang recalled that Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng led a delegation to Taipei to promote the city’s unique Longgang rice noodle back in April. He is happy to return the favor by attending the Roadside Banquet Galore to enjoy the best of the special catering culture. He also praised Chang for his effort to promote Minnan cuisine, language, arts, and literature through the festival, as well as holding interesting competitions such as the dragon and lion dance tournament, bringing new sparks of innovation through encounters among different ethnic cultures. The mayor also expressed his gratitude to New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih for calling together the four municipalities of Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan to establish a communication platform on city administration issues and initiating the policy on NT$1,200 public transportation monthly pass. To be implemented on July 1, Chiang pointed out that the monthly pass will surely alleviate commuting burdens for students and workers who rely on public transportation across the four municipalities. The tool also contributes to the objective of lowering carbon emissions. Mayor Chang noted that hopefully the introduction of the NT$1,200 monthly pass will help realize the goal of integrating the four northern municipalities into a common living sphere. This will allow the residents of the respective municipalities to enjoy the culture of different cities with the added convenience of a closely linked public transportation system. At the end of the event, Chiang remarked that he is very happy to see the four municipalities get together here today. He looks forward to making the respective cities better in the future through continued communication and collaboration, which will bring further benefits to citizens.
On June 18, Mayor Chiang Wan-an attended the “2023 Taoyuan Minnan Festival – Roadside Banquet Galore” in Taoyuan City. The theme of the activity is “Banquet Celebrating a New Home,” inviting five roadside banquet catering teams to showcase their skills through a 10-course feast.
