The annual Family Day for city hall employees was held on August 7. A total of 768 people from 260 families took part in this year’s event.

During his address, Mayor Chiang Wan-an remarked that city staff members bears significant responsibilities on their shoulders, and they can continue to concentrate on their work with support from their family members. He also welcomed the young children of staff members to city hall and invited them to explore the workplace of their parents.

The mayor believes that the kids must be curious about what work is like for dad and mom. He stressed that mundane events such as taking the MRT, riding the bus, or even visiting Taipei Zoo and Taipei Children’s Amusement Park, have gone through stages of planning and execution, which their parents play a part in carrying out.

Citing Taipei City Government’s first government-sponsored and privately-operated nursery which opened on August 1, Chiang pointed out that the facility provides invaluable childcare service for city employees. The available slots at the institution have expanded from 12 to 32 as well. He added that city hall must continue to operate and lead in creating a friendly environment for child-rearing.

According to the mayor, he has participated in Kids at Work Day when he worked abroad – both at his own workplace and his wife’s company. These events are designed to allow employees to bring their kids to work and let the young ones know what the working environment is like. He hopes that through events like this, city employees can secure more support from their kids and family members. He also hopes that children can enjoy the fun activities prepared by the Department of Personnel, including DIY balloons and photo sticker machines.
