In light of possible wind and rain from the approach of Typhoon Saola, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) has implemented typhoon and flood prevention SOP for affiliated facilities to ensure the safety of the MRT system and passengers during the typhoon period.

For updates on the typhoon, please check the websites of Taipei City Government or TRTC. Information is also available via channels such as “Go! Metro Taipei” app, passenger information system, in-station broadcast, announcement bulletin, or announcement via the media.

Passengers should be aware that the operations of the MRT system, Maokong Gondola, and Taipei Children’s Amusement Park (TCAP) may be suspended when wind speed reaches hazardous levels.

When either force 10 winds have been observed or average wind speed reaches force 7 over a 10-minute period, surface and overpass sections of the Tamsui-Xinyi Line, Songshan-Xindian Line, and Wenhu Line will suspend operation. Operations of below-ground section of MRT Zhonghe-Xinlu Line, Bannan Line, Songshan-Xindian Line, and Tamsui-Xinyi Line will be unaffected, but the service interval will be adjusted according to actual passenger flow.

In the situation where typhoon land advisory (with scope encompassing Taipei City) is announced, Maokong Gondola may suspend operation based on the actual rain and winds. It will shut down if the city government cancels class and work. This guideline also applies for the operations of TCAP.

To prepare for possible storm and flooding, TRTC has strengthened inspection of flood-prevention equipment such as flood barrier units and pumps across all company facilities (including train depots, MRT stations, parking lots, and malls).
