City Requests Department Stores, Big Box Retailers to Participate in Air Raid Drill
The operators of department stores and big box retailers are to devise plans for their respective venues in compliance with guidelines listed in the publication, as well as carrying out the measures outlined during practices before the scheduled Wanan 46 Air Raid Drill. To raise public awareness on subjects highlighted during the air raid drills, Taipei City Police Department published pamphlets on information regarding the exercise and evacuation details. The publication can be accessed online by visiting the “Police Affairs App’s Civil Defense Shelters” or “Taipei City Police Department Website – Air Defense and Evacuation” pages. TCOOC also announced that it is making available the “2023 Wanan 46 Exercise” pamphlet in Chinese and other languages – published by the Ministry of Interior’s Workforce Development Agency – on the agency’s website. The goal of air defense and evacuation drills is to familiarize the public with evacuation routes and emergency response measures in the case of an attack. While the exercise may cause inconveniences to people’s daily life, the government seeks to limit the impact to a minimal while conducting the civil defense routine. Department stores and big box retailers should use the drill as an opportunity to educate employees on the whereabout of evacuation shelters and details for taking cover and protecting oneself.
The Wanan 46 Air Raid Drill will take place on July 24, 2023. With the exercise being held on a greater scale, Taipei City Office of Commerce (TCOOC) invited department stores and big box retailers to draft execution plans in accordance with “Taipei City Department Stores/Big Box Retailers Air Defense Evacuation Drill Implementation Plan and Action Guidebook.”
