On the first day of school, the Daan Police Precinct deployed police officers along major thoroughfares seeing large number of students to strengthen security and ensure smooth traffic flow.

There is a total of 15 elementary schools within the parameters of Daan District. Working with faculty members, volunteer parents, and school security guards, the police force devised security plans detailing duties at the start and the end of the school day.

The patrols cover areas such as school entrances, parent pickup areas, major intersections, and roads in the vicinity of the respective schools. Units such as the criminal investigation division, traffic division, and local police outposts provide manpower to support the operations.

Furthermore, to take advantage of the back-to-school day, police officers also executed a campaign aimed at raising the public’s awareness on issues such as crime prevention and traffic safety. Officers dressed up as mascots stood for photos with students and adults, while using the opportunity to promote anti-drugs, anti-fraud, and anti-bullying messages. They also remind the students to be on alert when crossing the street, keeping an eye out for the traffic light and approaching vehicles.

Daan Police Precinct Chief Wang Pao-chang remarked that the safety of children, women, and school campuses are top priorities for the police force. In addition to routine patrols in the vicinity of school campuses, the police have also established campus security communication channels with school principals, school faculty members, and student affairs personnel. This allows officers to maintain communication and be in the know to respond to emergencies when necessary.
