Guandu Nature Park: CNY Events Begin February 4
To welcome the Year of the Tiger, the Guandu Nature Park will organize a series of Chinese New Year activities under the theme “Guandu Spring Outing: Tiger I Love You” on February 4, 5, 6, 12, and 13.
The activities include DIY lesson for the entire family on how to make a cool-looking tiger lantern. Those donating to help conservation efforts will also have a chance to try out their luck with fukubukuro (lucky bags) draws. To promote conservation knowledge, the organizers will hold “Hu are you” and “Tiger Classroom” events as well. In addition, guests shopping at the park’s How-wo-shi Restaurant will receive a small bag of complimentary cookies.
The DIY class for parents and kids on February 6 and 13 utilizes recycled PET bottles and candles to construct a lantern befitting the Year of the Tiger. The small creative gadget is environmentally-friendly and something that kids will enjoy carrying during the Lantern Festival.
To enhance public awareness on protecting our ecosystems and to allow participants to learn something new, the organizers will set up booths at six locations inside the park during the aforementioned dates – from 9 PM through noon and 1 PM through 4 PM. Look through the tiger-related questions at these booths and visit the “Tiger Classroom” to give your answer, and you will receive a pack of materials to make your own “Lucky Tiger Bookmark”. Individuals can also donate NT$50 in exchange for a pack of bookmark materials as well.
For the lucky bag draw, simply visit the park during the aforementioned activity dates and offer a donation at the park’s nature center. Prizes include 15 possible items, ranging from souvenir accessories to 1-year pass to the park!
